Welcome to Lager Blogger
A brief, mostly honest accounting of why we are doing this.

When deciding whether or not we should re-start a blog on the Lager site, I kept asking myself 2 questions:
- What am I hoping to accomplish with a blog?
- What will make me actually want to keep publishing to a blog?
The answer to the first one is self-serving and obvious. I think Lager is really cool, and I want to get other people excited about it too. Maybe a blog can help with that? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But I wasn’t so sure about the answer to the second question. We had a blog in the past. It was the same kind of marketing/SEO nonsense everyone else is doing. Mostly forgettable “thought leadership” pieces, or how-to articles that were just thinly veiled promotional pieces for Lager. We hated writing them, and eventually we just kind of stopped doing it.
What I really wanted to do is create something that people looked forward to reading. I kept thinking back to how much I loved when Bill Simmons, The Sports Guy, used to still write for ESPN’s Page 2. Whenever a new article of his dropped, I stopped whatever I was doing and read it.
Now, I’m not so self-delusional that I think we’re going to write anything as compelling and loved as Bill Simmons, an amazing writer who also launched the extremely successful 30 for 30 series. But if we’re going to do a blog, I want to at least believe there are readers out there that genuinely look forward to it. That it’s not just some cynical ploy for better SEO.
And so, this blog is a throwback to when blogs were blogs. And yes, the constant thread will always be Lager. But we’re going to have fun with it, and write about things we care about, in the hopes that there are people out there that also care about it.
